Week 15 - Text truncation, enhanced scrolling, and conversation optimization

This week at 120.dev has been all about refining the details that matter most to users. We've enhanced our text handling capabilities with truncation features, improved navigation through better scrolling controls, and introduced granular conversation settings that put users in control of their AI interactions.
Context limit messages
Understanding that different conversations have different requirements, we've introduced comprehensive settings that allow users to optimize their AI interactions based on their specific needs.
We've implemented a context window setting that gives users control over how much conversation history is included in each prompt sent to the language model. This feature builds upon the automatic three-message context system we introduced in Week 14, now allowing users to adjust this number based on their specific use case.
Whether users need minimal context for quick questions or extensive history for complex, ongoing discussions, this setting helps them balance response relevance with token efficiency. It's particularly valuable for users working with lengthy conversations who want to maintain coherent dialogue while managing computational costs.
Output max tokens setting
Complementing our context controls, we've added an output token limit setting that allows users to specify the maximum length of AI responses. This feature provides fine-grained control over response verbosity, helping users manage both token costs and content consumption.
Some users prefer concise, direct answers, while others benefit from detailed explanations. This setting ensures that the AI's response length aligns with user expectations and requirements, making conversations more predictable and cost-effective.
Scroll to specific position
User navigation continues to be a priority in our development efforts. This week, we've implemented scroll position targeting that transforms how users interact with long conversations.
Our vertical scrolling component in the 120 AI Chat app now supports direct position targeting. Users can click anywhere on the scroll bar to instantly jump to that specific point in their conversation history. This eliminates the need for tedious manual scrolling through lengthy chat sessions, making navigation both fast and intuitive.
This enhancement particularly benefits users with extensive conversation histories, allowing them to quickly locate specific exchanges or return to particular points in their discussions without losing context or momentum.
Inline text multi font size with truncate
Building on our multi-size inline text formatting from Week 14, we've now implemented comprehensive text truncation capabilities that maintain visual coherence even when content exceeds available space.
We've enhanced our multi-font size text component to handle overflow gracefully. When text with varying font sizes exceeds its container, the system now intelligently truncates the content with an ellipsis (…) while preserving the intended typographic hierarchy. This ensures that complex text layouts remain visually clean and functionally readable, even in constrained spaces.
This enhancement works seamlessly with the multi-font family and multi-size capabilities we established in previous weeks, creating a robust foundation for rich typographic interfaces that never break under content pressure.
Inline text truncate with line clamp
We've introduced a new component to our native library that implements line-based text truncation. This feature allows developers to specify exactly how many lines of text should be displayed before truncation occurs, with an ellipsis automatically appearing at the end of the final visible line.
While this component represents a significant step forward in our text handling capabilities, we consider it a work in progress. As we begin integrating it across our applications, we expect to discover additional refinements and optimizations that will further enhance its utility and performance.

This week, the combination of advanced truncation, enhanced scrolling, and comprehensive conversation settings have created a foundation for AI interactions that feel both powerful and precisely controlled. Users can now tailor their experience to match their workflow, preferences, and requirements.
